about the Green Lantern Movie trailer...

"The kids will love watching a womanizer smash a chick then leave her with the tap water..."
-LeSean Thomas (animator, cartoonist)

sorry, but that quote is awesome. I hope the movie is better than this trailer, which feels mad corny. They clearly got all excited after watching Avatar, and decided that computer animating everything possible was the way to go. I really like cartoons, so maybe this will be like watching a cartoon (like Avatar was). yeah, that's it... feel free to inject your opinion on the trailer... what do you think?

Yeah, I was discussing this with a friend earlier yesterday. I think this movie stands a chance to be good if Reynolds keeps the comic relief to a minimum. If...

Yea, I posted the Trailer to my blog and I'm not sure how I feel about the CGI...I was hoping for more of a Batman feel, but it's super CGI! I'm scared.

The amount of CGI isn't shocking to me. It's about people who can control energy flying around in space. A-lot of that's going to be CGI. The thing that's most promising to me is Reynolds. He's showing me a Hal Jordan I can be cool with. And I've never been a Hal Jordan fan.

I'm not against it yet. I just hope it's not corny. Thanks for commenting, guys!

I think it'll be corny and the kids will dig it. I honestly didn't really expect it to be anything else. A cat that can make big fists in the air and drop green anvils on people? You can't Batmaneize that and be truly serious. And not everything needs to be that. This is Green Harry Potter with a six pack.

They're going for a Tony Stark vibe, which is understandable considering the success of the Iron Man films, but Hal Jordan is not Tony Stark. He's not a goofy womanizer, he's a straight edge conservative whose always in control.

I tend to agree with you, J.R.

@ B_Steelo- I think it should be "awesome", and that doesn't HAVE to be corny. unfortunately, when you aim for awesome and miss, you hit corny.

I remember discussing Hal Jordan with Kurt Busiek on CBR years ago. He pointed out that Hal is test pilot. Think about what that means. He's not like all the other pilots who get in their safe secure planes and jets. He's the one who, right after they build a new jet, they tell him:

"Alright, get in there and fly around to see if there's anything wrong with it."

And if, while he's flying, someone does go wrong, it's up to him to figure out what it is, and how to get it back down on the ground safely. Imagine the kind of self-control that requires.
And that's why Abin Sur chose him, because Hal truly is a Man Without Fear.

Whatever. I'll go see this film, but I wish it were about John Stewart.

word. I loved Hal growing up. My favorite Hal Jordan comic is Emerald Dawn. Sick...
